He owned Superior Florist in Albion and also owned a greenhouse. He was active in foster care at the Erie House. Mr. Burke also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a sister, Fontella Man of Homer; four brothers, Gary Newsome of Homer, Grover (Betty) Burke of Coldwater, Garner Burke of Quincy and Craig Mullins of Litchfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Orville, Dempsey, Nolan and Jerrel Burke; and two sisters, Patsy Bryant and Annie Izzard; grandparents, Duran and Elizabeth Lockie Tackett Burke, Andrew J. and Martha Elswick Casebolt.
Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 4-5 p.m. at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home in Albion. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Walter H. Nichols, Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
