John Boyd, born in 1838, a private in a colored Massachusetts regiment in the civil war, died at Neodesha. He was 72 years old and a highly respected colored minister. During his ministry, Mr Boyd organized several churches, which are as follows: Mound City, Oswebo, Chanute, Iola, Independence, Burlington and LaCygne, Kansas.
