Franklin News-Herald, Monday, Mar 29 1948:
Ernest M. Cauvel, 77, of Franklin, died at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Cauvel, 258 Grant Street, at 12:05 pm today. He was born in Cherrytree Township April 22, 1870, son of Russell and Barbara Ann Tarr Cauvel.

He suffered a slight stroke two years ago while on a fishing trip to Canada, and never fully recovered. His condition became critical two week ago. He spent his early life in Cherrytree Township, attended schools there, moved to Franklin when a young man, and lived here since. He first worked as an oil well drilling contractor for Jacob Sheasley. Forty-three years later he entered the dairy business with his brother-in-law, E. H.
