Mr. L. D. Brewer, 82, passed away on April 16, 2016, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. Mr. L.D. was born October 2, 1933, in West Point, the son of the late Nicholas Scott and Myrtis McMullen Brewer. He was a member of Hope Baptist Church. He retired from the Clay County Sanitation Department. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, and Friend. Even with an extended number of family members, Mr. L.D. was "Granddaddy" to a host of friends and often used the expression "Granddaddy Loves You Baby" as an expression of his friendship and love. He was a proud supporter of Rockin Mc Rodeo. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and could often be found either at Wendy's, Hardees, Cigar Charlie's, or Checkered Flag Auto. Mr. L.D. married Evelyn Prescott on September 13, 1956, in Pheba, and she passed away February 28, 2013. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 2 Sisters: Jewel Smith and Billie Sue Walker. Mr. L.D. coined the phrase, "I'll give it to you for what I got in it" and he did just that for 82 years.

Funeral services will be April 17, 2016, at 4:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Todd Chesser officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery near Pheba. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include One Daughter, Vicki Brewer McIlwain (Jim) of Cedar Bluff and One Son, Phillip Dale Brewer of West Point; Nine Grandchildren; Bradley Brewer (Tanya) of Meridian, Rebecca Brewer of Elgin, IL, Joni McIlwain Cannon (Jason) of Maben, Terri McIlwain Clifford (Derek) of Mathiston, Sara Kate McIlwain Ford (Eric) of Pheba, Monty James McIlwain of Cedar Bluff, Magnum Brewer (Bonnie) of West Point, Colt Brewer of Las Cruces, N.M., and Luke Brewer of Cedar Bluff; Six Great Grandchildren; Garrett Wayne Cannon, Mattie Grace Adams, Phillip Magnum Brewer, Zephyr Addicus Brewer, Kale Palmer Cannon, and Neytiri Bleu Brewer; One Sister, Gloria Dean Brown of Tupelo, and Two Brothers, Franklin Brewer (Kathy) of Pheba and Scottie Brewer of West Point.

Pallbearers will be Monty James McIlwain, Magnum Brewer, Luke Brewer, Jason Cannon, Derek Clifford, Marion Johnson, Sonny Sizemore, and Greg Fulgham.

Honorary Pallbearers will be O.M. Johnson, Jessie Blankenship, Sherman McMahan, Charlie Dimino, Donnie Dimino, Bobby Miller, George Sheffield, and Dr. William Brohawn.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Visitation will be Sunday 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home.
