Iris Sanders 1927 - 2016
Iris (Shearer) Sanders , 89, of Johnston City passed away at 4:56 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016 in Baptist Health of Paducah with her loving family by her side. Iris was born March 17, 1927 in Detroit to Charles and Ruby (Kimmel) Shearer in. She married Clyde Edward Sanders on March 22, 1947 at the home of Rev. Harry Kimmel in Johnston City. Iris worked for Sangamo Electric Company and Allen Industries, where she enjoyed driving her co-workers to and from work. She enjoyed baking pies for all those in her neighborhood. Iris loved her Lord and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Johnston City where she attended faithfully since accepting her Savior at age 30. Iris also served the church as Sunday School Secretary for many years. She is survived by her two granddaughters, Terra Sue (Cayce) Buckner of Carrier Mills, Tracy Lynn (Nicholas) Griffey of Metropolis; three great-grandchildren, Aaron Michael Buckner and fiancée Scottie Bohn of West Frankfort; Dakota Faith Buckner and fiancé Jonathan Utley of Zeigler and Hayden Landon Griffey of Metropolis; three great-great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jaydin and Jase; one brother, John Julian (Marge) Shearer of Dutton, AL. two sisters-in-law Karen (Paul) Miner of Keller, TX and Pamela (Ken) Wiese of Elkhart, TX. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Lavon Wilson and her infant son, Michael Edward Sanders. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2016 in Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Rev. Keith Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
