He was born to John and Rosalind (Betz) Honstein on Nov. 10, 1934. He married Carol Anderson Nov. 28, 1953, in Raton, N.M.
He was raised in the Eaton area where he farmed and fed cattle. He then went to work for Woodward Governor in Fort Collins in 1984 and moved to Fort Collins in January of 1985. He also had sold stainless steel cookware for 10 years.
He was a member of the Christian Congregational Church in Greeley; a deacon of the church, superintendent of the Sunday school, member of the church board, the 39ers of the church board, charter member of the church and was a member of the Colorado Cattle Feeders Association.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Fort Collins; one daughter, Lisa Honstein of Fort Collins; two sons, Larry of Fort Collins, and Randy of Windsor; his mother, Mrs. Rosalind Honstein of Greeley; a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Dorothy) Deines of Eaton; and three grandchildren.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
