Janet B. Ashmun, Age 88 of Hambden Twp. passed away April 10, 2016 at UH Geauga Medical Center. Born Oct, 13, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA to Donald and Mildred (nee: Seacrist) Bair, she had lived in Salem, OR for many years prior to moving to Chardon 22 years ago. Janet, a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, had a passion for pottery, painting and teaching art. She worked for the State of Oregon giving comfort and guidance to the residents of the Hillcrest Youth Correctional Facility for 20 years. She is survived by her children Kathryn (Thomas) Pitrone of Hambden; Robert John Ashmun of Salem, OR and Russell Ford Ashmun; grandchildren: Owen (Margaret) Pitrone, Frank (Ami) Pitrone, Robert (Miranda) Pitrone, Dominic (Sofia) Pitrone, Andrew Pitrone and Veronica Pitrone; great-grandchildren Emily, Semelina, Aria, Evelyn, Thomas and Leon. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Donald and John Bair. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. A private family burial will take place at Chardon Municipal Cemetery.
