Roy Walters, 72, of Thayer, MO., passed away suddenly on Monday evening, April 11th, at the Ozarks Medical Center in West Plaines, MO.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 18th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Rock Valley Cemetery east of Marshalltown. Born on March 30th, 1944, in Salem, Oregon, he was the son of Frank and Mae Walters. He attended school in that area. Roy was a career truck driver and was baptized into faith at the Calvary Apostolic Church. He later was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church in Marshalltown.


On December 3rd, 1988, he was united in marriage to Joann Groenenboom at her daughter’s home.


Surviving are his children: Stacy Voigt, Heidi (Jeff) Steffens, Tammy DeSchamp, Lonny (Vernita) Terry, Roy (Angie) Walters, Jr., Melinda (Cecil) Clark, Victoria Walters, Patty (Kerry) Klaas, Adam (Deb) Terry, Craig (Tonya) Terry and Bobbie Jo (Jr.) Corson, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his brother Carl Walters and sister, Donna Walters.


In death, Roy rejoined his parents and loving wife, Joann.
