James Marion Adcock married Luna Eleouise Johnson in Durant, Oklahoma. Served in US Army during WWII. Earned degree at Southeastern in Durant. Moved to Houston,Texas. Taught at GPISD and Houston ISD. Earned his Masters Degree at University of Houston. James supplemented teaching salary with many jobs. James was Community Director in Galena Park, running Pool and Community Building. He installed air conditioners in homes, that led to a business installing, repairing and selling air conditioners.
James and Ella started Square Dancing in "50's. James was a singing caller and expanded teaching to include teaching square dancing classes. James and Ella became very involved in Square Dance organization ultimately President and First Lady of Gulf Coast Square Dance Federation in 1968, hosting the Houston Festival at the Houston Coliseum.
He continued teaching in Houston ISD and later became Director Principal at Houston Tech High School for Careers. Was first Principal at Barbara Jordan High School for Careers in Houston ISD. He retired and traveled around USA, one trip to Alaska.He and Ella had 2 sons and 1 daughter.
