Evelyn P. Hammonds (Hood - Melot). Born: August 29, 1920, Death: February 23, 2018. Evelyn was born in Van Alstyne. Her parents were Victor and Lira Jay. She was the third born of 7 siblings. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Van Alstyne. She was the last surviving member of the Van Alsltyne High School class of 1935.
She was know for her large flower gardens and collection of yard art as see from FM 121 East of Van Alstyne.
She had three great loves during her life. Her first husband, Everett Hood, Born in Howe, Texas, they produced two children, Rendy and Richard Hood. Her second husband was Raymond Melot of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Her third husband was Veneble Hammons of Sherman, Texas. Surviving family members at the time of death; sisters: Barbara Holder; Allene Whitehead; son: Richard Hood; grandchildren: Chris Hood; Tom Hood, Cindy Hood; Missey Hood.
