Andrew Jackson Hubler & Susanna Kramer Hubler

I believe Susanna just left Andrew alone to raise two small boys, Heenan and Leander Hubler. Andrew is my 2nd G-Grandfather and Leander is my Great-Grandfather. I have a certified copy of divorce record from the Clearfield Prothonotary/Clerk of the Court. Andrew petitioned for the divorce 7 Sept 1882. In March 1883 whatever petition he brought against Susanna was found to be true and correct and Andrew was granted the divorce. Andrew was 50 years old at the time the divorce was granted. In the 1870 census Susanna is not listed with the family. Listed are Andrew’s mother, Susan Hubler (70), Jackson (37), Landis (12), Leander (9). I believe Susanna Kramer Hubler was absent for quite some time before Andrew filed for the divorce, although I’m not sure why. The reason for the divorce is not mentioned in the paperwork.

Henrietta, I have no proof of Susanna's death. I do have Andrew's death certificate which states he's buried at Palestine, but like I said, I have found no headstone and the people at Palestine Church Cemetery have no record of his burial. Their two son's, Heenan and Leander, are both buried in Palestine. As for the divorce, it was the Sept. term of 1882, page 129, Prothonotary, Clerk of the Courts, Clearfield, PA. Andrew Jackson Hubler was the Complanant and Susanna Hubler nee Kramer was the Defendant. It was finalized in March of 1883. It says on Sept. 7, 1882 that James Mahaffey personally read and made known to her the contents of the divorce. I have no records of Andrew remarrying. His mother Susannah Schmehl Hubler was in the 1870 and 1880 census with him.

Thank you Dee Kisner Riker (#48211391) for this info.

NOTE: Susanna Cramer Hubler died in 1861. I am not sure if the above info is correct. It says that he petitioned for divorce in 1882. Why would he have to do that if she died in 1861. That is probably the reason that she is not listed on the 1970 Census record.
