He was a medic with the Army, so was sometimes called Doctor A. Lincoln. He went to the Yuma Crossing area (near the confluence of Gila and Colorado Rivers at that time) and established a good business operating a ferry during a time when there was a lot of travel to California. After "acquiring" an unfriendly business partner, likely an unfriendly takeover by the head of the Glanton Gang, the local Native American population retaliated for the partner's unscrupulous actions by the death of all those at the ferry crossing. The bodies were burned, and there were no remains known to be buried anywhere.
