Harold Seward Gambill, 85, of Sullivan died at 12:45 a.m. Monday, April 04, 2005 at the Sullivan County Community Hospital . He was born November 27, 1919 in Flint , MI to Cecil Gambill and Bernice Pirtle Gambill. He was the owner and manager of the Wilkinson Lumber Company for forty four years and a US Army-Air Corp veteran of WWII serving 30 months overseas in the China , Berma , India Theater flying the “Hump”. He was a member, past moderator and chairman of the trustees at the First Baptist Church , a fifty year member and past president of the Sullivan Lions Club and a charter member of the Sullivan County Jaycees. He served on the Sullivan Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals from 1968-2003 and was a former Sullivan Building Commissioner. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Sylvan Gambill and Ervin Gambill and two sisters Mildred Pirtle and Wilma Thornberry.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Holt Gambill of Sullivan, his step mother Maurine Gambill of Sullivan, four daughters Lela Street and her husband Robert of Sullivan, Janis Lynch and her husband William of Oxford, MD, Jean Gambill of Danville and Kathy Gambill of Sullivan, three step sons Mike Boone and his wife Shelia and Tim Boone and his wife Becky all of Sullivan and Darrell Boone and his wife Debbie of Casey, IL one step daughter Denise Lisman and her husband John of Graysville, one brother Wendell Gambill of Sullivan, one sister Evelyn Fisk of Speedway, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Ron Riggs and Rev. Timothy Fleace officiated. Burial with military
