Christine was survived by her daughters: Sharol Tafoya of Santa Clara Pueblo, Rita Aquino (John), Charlene Dean (Charlie), and Gina Cata; sons: Michael Cata and Lindsay Cata (RoseAnne), and Shawnti Aquino (Iris) all of Ohkay Owingeh; sister Julia Berry of Albuquerque; grandsons: Kenneth Tafoya Jr. of Santa Clara Pueblo, Robert Tafoya, both of Santa Clara Pueblo, Chuck Dean III, Michael Cata Jr., Christopher Torry Cata, and Kyle Krantz, all of Ohkay Owingeh; granddaughters: Lakesha Tafoya of Santa Clara Pueblo, Eunice Moya, Cynthia Aquino, Shellie Aquino, Muriah Dean, and Alisha Martinez; and 23 great-grandchildren, all of Ohkay Owingeh.
Christine retired from St. Vincent’s Hospital where she was employed as a CNA. Aunt Tine was loved by the community and a devoted Catholic. She was an avid Yankees and Chicago Bulls Fan. She enjoyed raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with them. She was a jokester and always had a smile on her face. Upon her retirement, she continued to care for the elderly.
Public visitation and Rosary were on 10 April 2016 at the Family Home in Ohkay Owingeh. Funeral Mass was on 11 April 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial followed in the Ohkay Owingeh Cemetery. Pallbearers: Shawnti, Mikey, Christopher, Chuck, Kyle, John, Kenneth, Robert, Peter, and David. Honorary pallbearers were all her grandchildren.
