Raymond E. Hanson Ray passed away peacefully on March 30, 2016 at the home of his granddaughter, Debbie, who was his loving caregiver. He was born in Dresser, Wisconsin on November 25, 1929 to Arley and Adah Hanson. Ray joined the US Army and was stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco, where he met and married his wife Irene. He did two tours of duty in Korea and one in Vietnam. Ray was stationed in numerous places including Japan, Italy and Hawaii. Ray received numerous awards including the Bronze Star. After 23 years, Ray retired, and he and Irene bought a farm in Puyallup where he raised cattle and sold raspberries. Ray was an avid outdoorsmen, having hunted and fished in many countries including a week in Spain. He was a member of the Tacoma Sportsmen's Club and was Chairman of the Year in 1989 and Outstanding Sportsmen of the Year in 1992. He also cooked at the Big Game Banquets and ran the annual Children's Fishing Derby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arley and Adah, his loving and faithful wife Irene, and brother Laverne. Thanks for all the memories. You will be tremendously missed by friends and family.
