Doylene Jacobs Bradshaw, 77, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew ST John officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home.
Born July 21, 1933 in Tyler, Doylene was a daughter of the late Doyle and Irene (Roberts) Jacobs. She moved to Anson in 1945 at the age of 12 and graduated from Anson High School in 1951. Doylene married Don Bradshaw April 24, 1952 in Anson. In 1968, she began working for the Jones County Tax Assessor's office and served the public for over 30 years. Doylene had a great love for the Court House and the people there, continuing to work part time even after retirement. She was a longtime faithful member of the First Baptist Church, teaching in the nursery for over twenty years.
Doylene was preceded in death by her husband (Don Bradshaw).
Survivors include three daughters, Vickie Bradshaw Blackman Walker (and husband, Jack) of Fort Worth, Donna Bradshaw Barkowsky (and husband, Kelvin) of Lamesa and Kellie Bradshaw of San Francisco, CA; four grandchildren, Jay Blackman (and wife, Emily), Molly Blackman, Emily Blackman and Jon Barkowsky; one great-granddaughter, Audrey Blackman; and one sister, Tonya Jacobs Herndon (and husband, Kenneth) of Anson.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Anson Meals on Wheels, 1225 Ave. J, Anson, TX 79501 or to the Taylor Jones Humane Society, 3811 North 1st, Abilene, TX 79603.
Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Adams-Graham Funeral Home, 732 Ave. I in Anson.
