James Keller Ambrose, 78, a well known resident of this community, died Monday afternoon at his home here, following a lingering illness.

Mr. Ambrose was a son of the late James K. and Mary Susan Jobe Ambrose and was born November 18, 1880 at Luray.

He had resided here since 1910. He was a member of the Woodstock Methodist Church.

On May 24, 1905 he married Miss. Lottie Virginia Emerson who survives as do six children, Mrs. Harold Morrison, Billy I. Ambrose and Randolph M. Ambrose, all of Woodstock, Mrs. William Monk and James E. Ambrose, both of Roanoke. Mrs. Robert Heishman of Woodbridge, Va. One half sister, Mrs. Earnest Ruby, of Mt. Jackson, and one half brother, Oscar Ambrose of Greencastle, PA., ten grandchildren five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. from Dellinger Chapel here. The Rev. Conley A. McMullen will have charge of the services with burial in the Mt. Jackson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Frank Gray, Samuel G. Clark, Berlin Bly, Chester Ritenour, Harlin Bauserman, and Charles Funk.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and that contributions be made to the Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital.
