In 1845 Friedrich Ellebracht and his wife Sophie with their little family of four children left Rosenthal, Schaumberg, Hessen Germany leaving behind many friends and relatives. After months they landed at Indanola or Galveston, Christmas Day December 25, 1845.

Friedrich was a wheelright in Germany and earned the wages of $200.00 a year. It is though that he continued a wheelwright business when he came to what is now Fredericksburg with his family in the main wagon train coming by way of New Braunfels, Texas. He and his wife were some of the people to help start and build what is now becoming the historic town. Friedrich and Sophie were charter members of the First Methodist Church in Fredericksburg. They lived at Cross Mountain but later bought a place near Doss, Texas and moved there. In 1872 Friedrich lost his wife Sophie, after which he remarried.

He had eight children from both wives. They are buried in Doss on what was their home at that time, Beaver Creek
