John Schoessler Final Rites Held
ASTORIA, Ore. - Funeral services were held recently in Astoria for John
Schoessler, a former resident of Ritzville, Wash.
Schoessler, prior to his retirement two and one-half years ago from
the Astoria Marine Construction company, had lived in Astoria 26 years. He
moved here from Ritzville where he had been a farmer.
He passed away Sept. 29 at a hospital near Astoria. He had not been
well for three years.
Schoessler, 77, was born on March 13, 1881, in Hitchcock, Neb. He was
married Jan. 25, 1905, to his surviving wife, the former Katie Bastron, who
resides at the family home in Astoria.
Also surviving are two sons, Melvin of Astoria and Reuben of Lind;
three daughters, Mrs. R. F. McCrosky, Spokane; Mrs. John Schneider, Sheridan,
Ore., and Mrs. Paul Peckstein, Seaside; and a sister, Mrs. Fred Thiel, Astoria;
one brother, Henry Schoessler, Ritzville; eight grandchildren and 11 great-
grandchildren.
