Samuel L. Porter was born to Sallie B. Porter and Samuel L. Jackson on March 29, 1956 in Smith County.

At the age of six months he caused joy to come into the life of Kelly and Geraldine Jackson being the son they always wanted.

He attended and graduated from Kilgore High School where he was very active in track, setting and breaking records.

He met and married his wife. He joined Easton Church of Christ and was an active member until he moved away.

He is preceded in death by his birth parents Sallie B. Porter and Samuel Jackson, father that raised him Kelly Jackson, brother Lee, niece Keycier Moody and nephew J.B. Moody III. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, his God given mother, four sister, three brothers, three stepsons who cherished and loved him, a precious young lady, who loved and cared for him and lovingly called him Uncle Sammie; a mother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, cousins, and friends.
