Son of Peter Eaton.
Jonas Eaton married Grace Silsbe...they had a son (among other children) named Jonas b. 1651 & married Hannah Mason.
Jonas (Sr.) died 25 Feb 1673 and his will was proved on 7/2/1674.
He is the immigrant ancestor for this branch of the Eaton family and birth data for him is all over the board from 1605, 1618 or 19, to as late as 1625... the later from Family Records on Ancestry.

I am accepting the edit of birth for Oct 23, 1617 ins Staple, Dover District, Kent England because I found one reliable source: Vital Records of Reading Massachusetts to the year 1850, Compiled by Thomas W. Baldwin, Boston 1912, http://archive.org/details/vitalrecordsofre1912read.

He and his wife Grace had 5 children.
After his passing, Grace married Henry Silsbee on Nov 18, 1680.

Jonas Eaton born Oct 23, 1617, Staple, county Kent, England, was the son of Peter & Elizabeth (Patterson) Eaton. He immigrated on the "Hercules," out of London, June 9, 1637, with his older brother's family--William & Martha (Jenkins) Eaton and their children. Jonas is listed as "servant" on ship manifest, which was common designation at the time in listing single (unmarried) men.
After arrival at Lynn, MA, Jonas was awarded 6-acre lot on North side old Sudbury road, per 1638 Watertown land division records. Watertown records list births of the first four children of Jonas Eaton and his wife, Grace from 1643 through 1648. There's no information regarding her surname or marriage, but may have been about 1641, Watertown.
Jonas received early land grant at Reading, (later Wakefield) MA, in 1642. He and brother William Eaton are listed among Proprietors incorporated at Reading in 1644. Jonas and wife Grace are listed with the First Church of Reading as members by September, 1648. He was made Freeman of the Colony on May 18, 1653; appointed as one of Reading's Selectmen; Constable, and served as Representative to General Court of MA from Reading.
Jonas and Grace were parents of nine children--Mary 1643; John 1645; Jonas 1647 d 1647; Jonas 1648; Sarah 1650; Joseph 1651; Joshua 1653; Jonathan 1655; David 1657 d 1657.
His Will written Jan 7, 1673/74 (double-date, old style;) died Feb 24, 1673/74.
