Emma C. Haag, 89, Bismarck, died March 29, 2016, at Marian Manor Nursing Home in Glen Ullin, ND.

Emerentiana “Emma” Haag was born on April 2, 1926, the daughter of Fridolin and Wilhelmina (Wanner) Haag. She was the eighth child of this family, and was born at home on the farm near Antelope and Richardton, ND. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Richardton, ND. Emma attended a country school near Antelope, and later St. Mary’s in Richardton. She belonged to St. Mary’s Sodality and was a Benedictine Oblate of Assumption Abbey. After graduating, Emma worked for Dr. Tosky in Richardton, then in Hebron. In 1967, Emma moved to Bismarck, where she worked at St. Alexius Hospital in medical records for 24 years, until her retirement in 1991.

She was a faithful member of Church of St. Mary, Bismarck. Emma volunteered as a sacristan, visitor at St. Vincent’s Health Care Center, made altar breads, helped at funerals, and helped in the parish office. She was a member of St. Jude’s group, Catholic Daughters and a small parish discussion group.

Emma enjoyed crocheting, gardening, baking, canning, playing cards, taking care of flowers and plants, and served as an adopted grandmother for a number of children at St. Mary’s Grade School. She also enjoyed traveling to Rome, Italy, the Philippines, Fatima, Portugal, the Holy Land, the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany, Monstserrat, Spain, Lourdes, Mexico, and Hawaii.

When Emma’s health began to decline she moved to Edgewood in Bismarck. She was transferred to Marian Manor in Glen Ullin on July 15, 2014.

Emma is survived by her sisters, Margaret Mook, Carmichael, CA, and Sister Veronica Haag, OSB, Mother of God Monastery, Watertown, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank, George, Joseph, and Peter; sisters, Mary, Minnie, Rose, and Sister Regina.
