Geraldine Lera (Neill) Hughes, age 99, was born October 14, 1916 at her family home in Boswell, OK. Geraldine was the seventh of nine children born to Joe Neill and Cleo Annie (Grise) Neill.

Mrs. Hughes attended Boswell Public School for ten years, moving to the Cade community after the loss of her mother and graduated from Bennington Public School. In the Cade community, she met Wayne Hughes and they were married in Bokchito, OK on April 11, 1936. Mrs. Hughes was the matriarch of her family and the Hughes Bar Double H Ranch that she helped establish in 1936 with her husband. She was known for her hard work, strong family ties, having an open house and always having a hot meal ready. Mrs. Hughes was of the Methodist faith and attended the Methodist church all her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Hughes; siblings, Lois Trout, Joe M. Neill, Jr., Pauline Thompson, Rex Neill, LaVerne Lyle, Ruth Nell Adair, Harry Clay Neille, and Obera Neill; and son-in law, Jim Clark.

SURVIVORS INCLUDE: daughters, Frances Clark and Janice Lawrence, both of Boswell; sons, Larry Hughes and friend, Paula Inge of Boswell and Jerry Hughes and wife, Toni, also of Boswell; grandchildren, Daryl West, Dale West, Dana West and wife, Lisa, Jean Ann Tyson and husband, Clint, Jo Pat Roberts, Pam Manar and husband, Brian, Missy Hughes, Courtney Hoffman and husband, Clint, Erica Gilbert and husband, Corey and Derek Hughes and wife Misty; great grandchildren, Barton West, Jason West, Brandon West, Brian West, Britt West, Jordan Dye, Justin Bacon and Jay Isaacs, Shelby Manar, David Manar, Tatum Gilbert, Cooper Hoffman and Heston Hughes; eight great great grandchildren; sister-in laws, Betty Hughes, Estellene Hughes, Quanah Lowrance and Laverne Johnson; niece and nephew, Scotty Thompson and JoAnn Burnett along with many other relatives and friends.
