Alex Henry Ecker

Alex H. Ecker, age 85, Birnamwood, died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Eastview Medical & Rehab Center, Antigo.
He was born January 27, 1918 in the township of Norrie, Marathon County, the son of the late Joseph and Ida (Heidtke) Ecker.
On June 10, 1949 he was united in marriage to Anita Teuchert in Antigo. She survives.
Alex was a 1936 graduate of Birnamwood High School and was a lifelong resident of Birnamwood. He farmed in the town of Plover and retired from Kersten Lumber, Birnamwood. Alex also logged for many years. In addition to being a member of the Birnamwood Area Fire Department, he was also very involved with the Birnamwood Area Ambulance as an EMT and was also employed as a city engineer for Birnamwood for many years. The couple enjoyed camping, visiting many Wisconsin state parks.
In addition to his wife, Anita Ecker, survivors include five children; Conrad (Janice) Ecker, Bowler, Robert (Julie) Ecker, Birnamwood, Randy (Shirley) Ecker, Schofield, Archie (Laura) Ecker, Eau Claire and Sharon (Doug Gritton) Ecker, Milwaukee, 13 Grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a special nephew, Duane (Flora) Ecker,
Birnamwood.
In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by a son; David, a granddaughter; Elizabeth and brother and sisters; Arno, Lawrence, Lena Gasser, Bernice Roewart and Minnie Ecker.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. Rev. Richard Brunner will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood. Friends may call from 12 noon until the time of services at the funeral home.
