Bert Jenkins, Former Elwood Resident, Dies

Bert Jenkins, 63, 316 West 10th street, Anderson, died at his home at 8:30 o'clock Monday morning of complications following a year's illness.

Born in Chicago, he was the son of Sidney and Lavinia Jenkins. His parents were natives of Wales. When a boy, Mr. Jenkins moved from Chicago to Elwood with his parents. He lived here until three years ago when he moved to Anderson. Prior to his illness, he was employed at Delco Remy at Anderson. He was a tin mill worker in Elwood for thirty five years.

Survivors include the widow, the former Florence Montgomery, a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Hampton of Houston, Texas; two sons, John E. and Hubert J. Jenkins, both of Anderson; five grandchildren, two brothers, Frank Jenkins of Elwood and Charles Jenkins of Wheeling, W. Va., and a sister, Mae Evans of Sharon, Pa.

The body will be moved Wednesday morning from Nuckols and Carmichael funeral home in Anderson to the York Memorial home in Elwood. Funeral rites will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the York Memorial home. The Rev. Thomas Morgan will officiate. Burial will be made in City Cemetery.
