VITO D. PALUMBO, 88, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016, at Saint Anne Home & Retirement Community. Born in Hartford, Mich., he was a U S Army Korean War veteran. Vito was the Vice President and Secretary of Franklin National Life Insurance Company for over 20 years. He ended his career as a sales agent for AFLAC. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, past president of the St. Vincent's Men's Club and Sierra Club, past member of the Bishop Dwenger School Board, American Legion Post 409 and was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. "Vito will always be remembered for his firm handshake and kindness to others." Surviving are his daughters, Diana (Tim) Rupley of Fort Wayne, Deborah (Dean) Russ of Leo, and Karen (Steve) Woodrum and Susan (Tom) Bender, both of Fort Wayne; son, Steven (Karen) Palumbo of Auburn; sisters, Grace Gardt of Leo and Rose McKimson of Troy, Mich.; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Beryl J Palumbo; parents, Dominic and Grazia Palumbo; and brothers, Louie and Oronzo Palumbo. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, with calling one hour prior. Father Daniel Scheidt officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, with vigil at 4:30 p.m. Entombment in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
