He was raised on a farm outside of Los Angeles, California and graduated from Compton High School. Ray joined the Navy in 1942 and was stationed at NAS Corpus Christi where he met and fell in love with Bobbye Mayfield. After they married in 1946, they moved to California where Ray attended the University of Southern California. Upon moving back to Corpus Christi, Ray was an insurance claims adjuster before building Colonia del Rey R.V. Park in 1972. He also started Colonia del Rey R.V. Sales. Ray and Bobbye were lifelong members of First United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Bobbye Sims.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Cage Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart Road. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Cage Mills Funeral Director with interment at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Published by Cage Mills Funeral Directors.
