(1914-1998)
Theodore Allen, 84, of Vanceburg, Ky., died Friday, August 7, 1998, at his home.
Born June 30, 1914, in Galdia, Ky., a son of the late Samuel Calloway and Susie Sayler Allen, he was a retired U.S.D.A. soil conservationist, a Kentucky colonel, a WWII Air Force veteran, a member of the Lewis County D.A.V. Chapter 150 in Vanceburg, and a graduate of Western Kentucky State University.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Woodrow Allen; and four sisters, Rhena Swinney, Nette Pickens, Thelma Allen and Loretta Allen.
Surviving are his wife, Faye Anne Gooch Allen; one son, Theodore Allen of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Sandra Hill of Salyersville, Ky.; and one brother, Samuel Allen Jr. of Paintsville, Ky.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg with the Rev. Steven Bowling officiating and interment in Black Oak Cemetery in Black Oak, Ky. Military graveside services by the James L. Flannery Post of the American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until the hour of the service on Monday.
