Ms. Alley died on Friday, April 6th in Sylva, NC. She was a graduate of Western Carolina University & received a masters degree at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. & taught in the Alexandria, VA & Washington, D.C. area schools before moving back to Jackson County in the 1970s. She was a board member of the Hospital Auxillary, Garden Club, and former president of the 20th Century Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Pauline (Hooper) Alley; three brothers, Tom, Mack, & Morris Alley, and four sisters, Jenny & Sally Alley, Helen Lewis, & Rubye Bumgarner. She is survived by five nieces and nephews. Graveside services were performed on Sunday, April 8, 2001 with the Rev. Joe Fulk officiating.
