Mrs. Landphair and Mrs. Willis Were Among Early Settlers—
Both Were Highly Respected Citizens."
Two pioneer women of Lamoni were taken by death during the past few days when Florence Viola Landphair and Carrie P. Willis passed away. Both women had resided for many years in Lamoni, had seen the scattered community develop into a thriving town, and watched with interest the educational and commercial advancements made. They and members of their families gave much to the early history which surrounds the town...
...Florence Viola Landphair came to this community when a girl 11 years of age in the year 1868. The family traveled to Iowa from Illinois in a covered wagon and settled some four miles south of Davis City. For the past 40 years, Mrs. Landphair was a continuous resident of the Lamoni vicinity where she was active and ever interested in the achievement of her friends and community.
