Laura Hoffman, 82, of Sioux Falls, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her residence.
Laura Dawn Lucas was born October 14, 1933 at Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up in Sioux Falls where she received her education, graduating from Washington High School in 1951.
On June 30, 1960, she was united in marriage with Harry G. Hoffman in Sioux Falls. Laura worked as a window decorator and on interior displays for Michaels and Burkes department store for 12 years. She later worked at Larsen Designs for 8 years. Laura had been a member of First Presbyterian Church for 70 years. She and Harry volunteered at First Presbyterian’s Edison Middle School after school program, the first after school program in Sioux Falls. They received the Jefferson Award in 1977.
She is survived by her son, Robert L. (Jana) Hoffman of Missoula, MT; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Hoffman of Marysville, WA; her grandsons, Charles, Tyler and Logan; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; two nieces, Ann (Kevin) Finnegan of Spokane, WA and Jane (Mark) Rabe of Missoula, MT; and was blessed with many good friends and neighbors.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on December 4, 2009; a son, Randall A. Hoffman in 2012; her parents, Robert A. and Ella Lucas; and a sister-in-law, Grace Lucas in 2014, and her brother, Robert C. Lucas in 2016.
Memorial services will begin 11:00 am Monday at First Presbyterian Church. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be directed to First Presbyterian Church, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
