The parents rushed to get the boy out of the water, and worked with him afterwards for several hours to bring him to life but with no results. A weak heart is thought to be the cause of his drowning as they had only been in the water a short time.
Tuesday morning the body was brought to Vernal and arrangements made for burial.
Mark Franklin Beers was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beers of Vernal, and was born in Salt Lake City, December 18, 1907.
The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the family, in this hour of bereavement.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the First Ward Chapel under the direction of Bishop Hyrum B. Calder. Remarks were made by Bishop Calder and Bishop Shaffer. Singing was furnished by Mima Davis and Edythe Bates. About fifty primary children made the pathway from the gate to the entrance of the chapel each one holding beautiful flowers. The casket was one mass of flowers and the house was like a beautiful flower garden.
Mr. Behunim, father of Mrs. Beers and her sister Crystal, came from Ferrin (Ferron), Utah Tuesday evening.
