OBITUARY
Erie Times-News, Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania, 27 Mar 2016
Mildred Louise Otteni Smith Funk, 90, of Erie, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016, at St. Mary's Asbury Ridge. She was born in McKean, Pa., on March 12, 1926, a daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret Baroth Otteni. Mildred was very proud to have lived the longest out of her family. She was the eighth out of nine children and was a 1944 graduate of Millcreek High School. She worked mostly between Marx Toys and The Boston Store while raising her children.

After she finally "retired" she had the time of her life bowling, traveling, playing cards, baking, enjoying her grandchildren, and all life had to offer. She was a life member of the Siebenbuerger Auxiliary. Always first to arrive to the party and the last to leave. She has left for the final and ultimate party and we will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Funk, who passed away on March 21, 1998; two sisters, Marian Guckes and Caroline Pennock; and six brothers, Arthur, Ted, Philip, Leo, Albert, and Benjamin Otteni; and her great-granddaughter, Kori Durkin.

She is survived by her children, Charles Smith of Grant, Fla., David Funk (Maxine), Sandra Smith and Kathleen Bruno (Robert), all of Erie. Also survived by grandchildren, David Funk, Robert Funk, and Michael Bruno of Erie and Amanda Vasil (James) of Brunswick, Ohio; step-grandsons, Michael and Patrick Durkin; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She also is survived by sisters-in-law, Rose Guido, Loretta and Jean Funk; and brother-in-law, Carroll Cohen of Baltimore, Md.

The family wishes to thank all personnel at St. Mary's Asbury Ridge for their care and support.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Tuesday morning at 9:15 a.m., followed by Mass at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 4701 Old French Road, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
