AKER, Graham Edward "Gramie" - 80, formerly of Keddy Road, Kentville, but recently of Steam Mill, Kings Co., passed away en route to Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, Sunday, October 5, 2003. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late John Edward and Ethel Mae (Shea) Aker. In his early years, he was employed with the Chinese Laundry in Kentville and spent a short period of time working at Camp Aldershot. In 1942, he went to work for the Dominion Atlantic Railway (DAR) and retired as a car inspector in 1988. He was secretary of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen. He enjoyed watching both baseball and hockey and was a big fan of the Kentville Wildcats and attended many of their games until the time of his illness. He is survived by his sister, Anna (Donald) Schnare, Steam Mill; many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. He was predeceased by brothers, John, Hugh, Harold and Gordon; sisters, Frances, Evangeline and Mildred. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. today in W.C. Hiltz/White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, Rev. Dr. Freeman Fenerty and Rev. Ed Shaw officiating. Burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital, Parkinson's Society of Canada, Maritime Region or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to W.C. Hiltz/White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
