Theodore B. "Ted" Vonderheide, 56, former city comptroller, died suddenly in his home, Wednesday night at 9.
Mr. Vonderheide had been mowing the lawn, and became ill at about 8. A doctor was called, but an hour later, before he could be taken to a hospital, Mr. Vonderheide died. Although he had not been feeling ill for some time, he had not been thought seriously ill.
Employed for the past three years as an accountant at Durst Brothers Dairy, Mr. Vonderheide was city comptroller for the previous nine years. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic church, and of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Born in Quincy December 23, 1902, Mr. Vonderheide spent all of his life here. His parents were Joseph H. and Cecelia (Schullian) Vonderheide.
He attended St. Boniface school; Quincy high school; and Gem City Business college.
He married Edna M. Kirkpatrick, on December 28, 1936, in Immaculate Conception church in Kirksville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
