Richard WALDEN was the 2nd son of John WALDEN and Sarah DEIGHTON. He was also known as Richard Harold Andrew/s WALDEN.

Born in Wellington on 12 May 1845, Richard was baptised with his siblings James and Emma, by Minister T. Biddulph HUTTON on 28 Nov 1851 at the old cathedral Church of St Paul. His father's profession was listed as a fruiterer.

Richard married twice:
1. Kiti Roka MAHUTA (also known as Ruka AWAIKI) (Abt. 1849-1883) - 16 Oct 1873 at Foxton
2. Sophia FRASER (1868-1943) - 1886

Mr Walden was born in Wellington on the 12th August 1845, and came to Foxton in 1866, where he has since resided. He leaves a widow and family of ten children, for whom great sympathy is expressed by a large circle of friends throughout the district, where Mr Walden has been always highly respected. The funeral leaves his late residence at Norbitton [Norbiton] road for the Foxton cemetery at 2 p.m. to-day.
