Arvilla Painter Nielson, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 88, died January 20, 1996.

Born February 26, 1907 in Nephi, Utah, a daughter of John Charles Painter and Elizabeth Ann Sowby. Married Charles Grant Nielson of Gunnison, Utah, September 12, 1927 in Nephi; the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on October 17, 1964. She was an active member of the LDS Church and Relief Society, as well as a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed genealogy and family history. Her friendly smile and helping hand will be missed by all.

Survived by three daughters: Mrs. Jack (Beverly) Powers, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Lyall (Marlene) Wilson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. George (Loretta) Howie, Reno, Nev.; two sons: Richard Grant Nielson, Randsburg, Calif.; Brent (Carol) , Concord, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter; baby, Arvilla; seven sisters; two brothers.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the West Valley 3rd Ward, 2810 West 3590 So. friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home 4330 So. Redwood Road, and from 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment: Nephi-Vine Bluff Cemetery.
