Edwin B. Bridenbaugh, 88, Martinsburg, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning at his home, after an extended illness.
He was born in Martinsburg, North Woodbury Township, son of the late G. Herbert and Gertrude (Miller) Bridenbaugh.
On Feb. 19, 1949, he married Betty M. Horton in Taylor Township, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 2007.
Surviving are three sons: Glenn E. (Gail) and David (Geri), both of rural Martinsburg, and Roger (Tammy) of Hoschton, Ga.; six grandchildren: Grant, Garth, Heather Kindel, Christian, Cody and Eric; eight great-grandchildren: Austin, Jessa, Joshua, Maura, Kathryn, Joey, Carson and Carter; and two brothers: George of Martinsburg and Robert of Roaring Spring.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Hinish; and a childhood brother, Nevin.
Edwin was a 1945 graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg, and attended Juniata College, Huntingdon. He was the owner and operator of Bridenbaugh Orchards, rural Martinsburg, where he worked alongside his wife and family for many years. He loved growing fruit, as well as the time that he got to spend with his family in the orchards.
He was a member and former deacon of Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg. In addition, he formerly served as president of the Tri-County Fruit Growers, and was a member of the Pennsylvania Farmers Association and Cove Apple Packers. He enjoyed playing softball, officiating basketball games, playing in the Blair County Baseball League and shooting billiards with his buddies.
Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the noon funeral service Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, Pastor Joel F. Nogle officiating.
A private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg
