He and Sarah, along with a daughter and granddaughter died with typhoid fever in the year 1860, in Richwoods, McDonald, Missouri, after the U.S. Census was taken in June. Exact burial place is unknown. Following their deaths, most of their sons enlisted in the Civil War, CSA, 16th Missouri Infantry, Co. E. They were said to be parents of about 20 children.
