Kenneth Albert Degand, 65, formerly of Topeka, died Wednesday Jan. 6, 1993 at a Warrensburg, MO nursing home.
Mr. Degand was a presser at Ripley’s Dry Cleaning in Topeka for 15 years. He was a manager 10 years of a Martinizing Cleaning Co. in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born March 18, 1927 in Topeka, the son of Joseph P. and Constancia C. Hafner Degand.
Mr. Degand was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warrensburg.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie Smith and Maureen Throssell, both of Mayetta, and Cheryl Gillaspie of Lawrence; three sons, Dennis Degand and James Degand, both of Mayetta, and Greg Degand of Topeka; two sisters, Rose Mary Frederick and Pat Smith, both of Topeka; three brothers, Eugene Degand of Rockport, Texas, Edward L. Degand of Topeka, and Ronald J. of Omaha, Neb., and 11 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Degand will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at Brennan Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today.
