Nellie Mae McCubbins, 93, born May 10, 1885, at Eunice to John and Hester Elliott. She died June 17, 1988, at her home in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

Mrs. McCubbins had lived most of her life at Eunice, moving to Mount Pleasant about 10 years ago, where she was a member of the Christian Faith Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children, Blanche Grow of Madrid, Iowa, Harold McCubbins of Wichita, Kans., Frank McCubbins of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Nellie Arzana Lynch of Mount Pleasant, Texas; one sister, Bessie Dixon of Houston; one half-sister, Esther Baker of Houston; and two half-brothers, Dennis Elliott of Raymondville and Bill Elliott of Everett, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry McCubbins; five infants; her parents and stepmother, Vianna Elliott; and three brothers.

Services were Monday, June 20, at the Big Creek Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Marlin Robey officiating. Burial was in the Big Creek Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
