Frank Lingo, 95, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Dow Rummel Village.

Frank was born to Jay and Luella Lingo on March 31, 1920 near Wolsey, South Dakota. He graduated from Canton High School in 1938 and from South Dakota State University in 1942. He married Elsie Bartlett December 17, 1942 in Medford, Oregon.

Frank served as an officer in World War II. After three years in the quartermaster corps in the European and Pacific theaters of operations he left the service with the rank of Captain. He entered the employment of John Morrell and Company in Sioux Falls where he served as manager of the Agriculture Service Department for 38 years. While with John Morrell, Frank worked with community and state organizations on agricultural related programs. He served as a director of the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, General Chairman of the Sioux Empire Farm Show, President of the Sioux Empire Fair, President of the Great Plains Zoological Society and President of the South Dakota Livestock Expansion Foundation. He served as chairman of the South Dakota Master Pork and Master Lamb Producers organizations, and was a director of the National Livestock Conservation Institute. Frank was the recipient of the National Future Farmers of America Honorary American Farmer Degree and was recognized as a Honorary South Dakota Master Pork Producer. He was inducted into the South Dakota 4-H Centennial Hall of Fame. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sioux Falls.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife Elsie, brothers Charles and Robert, two sisters, Helen Waggoner and Viola Watson.

Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Jay Lingo and his wife Judy, Minnetonka, MN; daughter, Pamela Lingo, Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Nila Fostvedt and her husband Louie, Vermillion, SD; two granddaughters, Allegra (Amy) and Marissa; great-granddaughter, Matilda; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 South Main Avenue. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Home Chapel.
