Karl served in the U.S. Coast Guard, receiving an honorable discharge and was an employee of Griggs VanHorn and Associates.
Surviving are his father, Bain Karl Killinger Jr., Roanoke; his mother and stepfather, Shirley Porterfield and Walter E. Wills, Jonesboro, Ga.; his sisters and brother-in-law, Karol and David Lurch, Stafford, Va., Elaine Conkling, Atlanta, Ga.; a special aunt, Dorothy A. Killinger and her son, Davy Lee Robertson, Roanoke; his grandmothers, Sallie C. Killinger, Roanoke, Emily Cowan and her husband, Bill, Missouri; his stepbrothers, John Godwin and his wife, Gaynor, Norfolk, Ricky Godwin and his wife, Scarlet, Atlanta, Ga., Charlie Wills, U.S. Navy, Sardenia; his aunts, Edith K. Killinger, Edna C. Freeman and her husband, Francis, all of Roanoke, Virginia Meserve and her husband, Joseph, Phoenix, Ariz.; his uncle, Richard Porterfield and his wife, Dottie, Arkansas; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the graveside in Sherwood Memorial Park Thursday, June 15, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Logan officiating. There will be no visitation. Oakey's South Chapel is handling funeral arrangements.
