BENJAMIN GILES ...................
The sympathy of the community is extended to the family of the late Benjamin Giles, Lifelong resident of Hagersville, whose death on Friday August 6th was the result of a collision of the car he was driving with a freight train.
The deceased who was 75 years of age was born at Hartford, but had lived here for many years. He had been a valued employee since 1913 of the Haldimand County Roads Department. He was a faithful member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are his daughter, Alice and son Harry of Hagersville, on brother, Cecil, of Springvale and five sisters: Mrs. Henry Jackson, Mrs. Arthur Winkworth, Hagersville; Mrs. Mabel Hager, Middleport;
Mrs. Harry Jefferies, Niagara Falls; and Mrs. Percy Dean, Hartford. His wife, the former Mary Catherine Carpenter, whom he married in 1895, predeceased him several years ago.
Many attended the funeral on Monday, August 8th, conducted by Rev. H. W. Wright, at Mott Bros. Funeral Home.
