Carroll Minton McCoy

WEBER CITY, Va. -- Carroll Minton McCoy, 62, Weber City, Va., died Tuesday afternoon (June 6, 1989) at his home.

Born in Hawkins County, he retired from Holston Defense on January 1, 1989 where he was an electrician.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gate City where he was ordained deacon on July 29, 1958.

Mr. McCoy was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy as a carpenter's mate third class. He was a member of Charles Dewitt Byrd V. F. W. Post No. 3382 and I. O. O. F. Gate City Lodge No.170.

A son of the late Daniel Thomas and Sarah Carolyn Rebecca Minton McCoy, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lois Williams.

Surviving are his wife, Mary June Fletcher McCoy; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald Wayne (Norma Carolyn) Elliott and Mrs. Danny Ray (Susan Elizabeth) Kilgore, both of Gate City, Mrs. Lester Allen (Debra Jean) Spivey, Elon College, N.C.; two sons, Daniel Edward McCoy, Roanoke, Va., and James Michael McCoy, Kingsport; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Maxine Renbarger, Ponca City, Okla., Mrs. Cathryn Tranbarger and Mrs. Vera Minervini, both of Kingsport; two brothers, Daniel Thomas McCoy and William Lawrence McCoy, both of Kingsport.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 Thursday at Gate City Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Lynch officiating.

Neighbors and the deacons of First Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday with the I. O. O. F. Gate City Lodge No. 170 at Holston View Cemetery.
