Cathryn McCoy Tranbarger, 92, of Kingsport, died Wednesday morning, November 23, 2011 at Asbury Place at Kingsport.

Born in Keokee, Virginia, she was a resident of the Kingsport area since 1920. Cathryn was a retired employee of Holston Defense Corporation and a long-time member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering for Holston Valley Auxiliary, Kingsport Fun Fest, and First Night.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. J. Doc Tranbarger, Jr.; and by her six siblings, Maxine M. Renbarger, D. T. McCoy, Jr., William L. McCoy, Vera M. Minervini, Carroll M. McCoy, and Mary Lois M. Williams.

Cathryn is survived by her daughter, Peggy Kenny and husband, Landon, of Kingsport; grandson, David Kenny and wife, Jessamy, and their son, Casey, of Nashville; and grandson, Greg Kenny and wife, Patricia and their sons, Bryson and Seth, of Knoxville.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating.
