Fred L. Pauli, 56 Dies In Cemetery
Fred L. Pauli, 56, World war I veteran and well known business man, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Monday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock in North Union cemetery, seven miles northeast of Lafayette. His wife was with him at the time, having accompanied him to the cemetery where he was laying out monument foundation work for a customer. The famiy home is 121 Lincoln street.
Born in Lafayette, he was a son of Henry and Sophia (Weber) Pauli, and was educated in the Lafayette schools. On May 3, 1922 he married Pearl Keen. For several years he was a traveling representative for the Duncan Electric Manufacturing company and later was employed by Lafayette Granite company. He operated a granite shop on Oakland Hill for sometime and in 1927 purchased the Lafayette Granite business.
Mr. Pauli was active in fraternal orders, being past noble grand of Friendship Lodge 22, I.O.O.F.: Past Exalted Ruler of Lafayette Elks Lodge 143; a member of Lafayette Lodge 123 F. and A.M., Lafayette chapter 3, R.A.M., a Past Illustrous master of Tippecanoe Council 8 R. and S. M., and also a member of the American Legion, Post 11, and Merou Grotto. He leaves his widow and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Burchby, of Mt. Morris, Ill.
Body at Bradshaw funeral home after 4 p. m. Wednesday. Services there Friday at 2 p.m.
