AALDERS, Roger Henry - The hard and emotional game has come to a close. Roger passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008, at age 69, with the support of family at his side at home in Timberlea. Born in North Alton, he was a son of the late Cecil and Bernice (Huntley) Aalders. Roger retired after 30 years of teaching industrial arts and technical education in the classroom. He was a believer in "lifelong learning" and "lifelong teaching". His wisdom was well-known and called upon by all who knew him. At a young age Roger joined the Chester Brass Band. Through the years he not only played well, but also held many executive positions and was instrumental in building their current band hall. He is survived by his lifetime friend and wife, Donna (Walker); children, Julie (Timothy) Hingley, Tony (Leigh-Ann) and Chris (Cristin); grandchildren, Celina, Connor, Rebecca, Benjamin, Logan, and Griffin; sisters, Joyce Dobbie, Goldie (Harold) Hills, Diana (Garth) Aalders, and Beth; brother, Ken (Carolyn); mother-in-law, Flossie Walker; brothers-in law, Gerry Milne and Barry (LaVerne) Walker, and sister-in-law, Eleanor. He was predeceased by siblings, Phyllis Milne, Eric and Lewis. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of life will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Reception to follow. Private family interment in Elm Grove Cemetery, Centreville.
