Burial will follow services in the Reilly Springs Cemetery, with Lynn Shelton, Tommie Attlesey Caudell, Terry McCullough, Joe Attlesey, Bobby Stalcup, and Bobby Meeks serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Radio Bible Class at First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 6:00 t0 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 21, 2008, at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Mr. Attlesey passed away on Friday morning, September 19, 2008, at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home. He was born on September 6, 1912, in Reilly Springs, the son of Robert Hiram and Annie Laura Shelton Attlesey. He married Onree Shelton, in Reilly Springs, on July 20, 1934. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Attlesey was a dairy farmer and worked as an office administrator for Farmers Co-op.
Other survivors include: three sisters-in-law, Totsie Attlesey Martin of Desoto, Mary Attlesey of Yantis, and Jo Shelton of Sulphur Springs; a brother-in-law, Luther McCullough of Reilly Springs; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving caregivers, Lucy and Laneva.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Johnny Mac Attlesey; and infant daughter; five brothers, Bob, Joe, Merle, Woodrow, and Truett; and four sisters, Elizabeth, Sissie, Billie, and Helen.
Memorials may be made to the Radio Bible Class, at First Baptist Church, 116 Oak Avenue, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.
