SAMUEL ALLEN IS FOUND DEAD
Prominent Farmer Dies Alone in Potato Patch

Samuel Allen, a well known farmer who lived at the Wood Yard station of the Monon and who is the father of Mrs. Charles Coyle and Edward Allen of this city, died suddenly at 2:30 this afternoon while in the potato patch that joined his home. The trouble was of the heart which he had suffered for some time.

Mr. Allen had gone out into the patch and not returning his son James went to see what was the matter and found the father dead. From the surroundings he had evidently died without warning and Coroner Moser was at once notified.

Mr. Allen leaves a wife and three children--James who lives at home, and Mrs. Charles Coyle and Edward Allen of this city. A few months ago when Mrs. Allen was ill, a doctor who examined Mr. Allen gave him warning that death might occur at any time, and he had been in failing health for many weeks. Mr. Allen was aged about 55 and moved from Clear Creek neighborhood to 4 miles northwest of the city about two years ago.
